It takes me the fun out of the game that it's made so easy ... #7463

... to destroy landscapes and so much harder to restore them or shape them in your favor, see #3367

Ok, it's intentional here that you get the most XP just by digging pointless holes or by removing mountain peaks. Ok, thanks for at least being able to protect your environment against player damage. Then you repair all the old holes and damage and it could finally be beautiful. But why is the country too sterile and empty? Luckily, there is the spawnit command and so the country can fill with life again and become a little paradise. But what the hell is that? Grass disappears completely and against the will of the owner, fertile land becomes dirt or dead mushroom land again.

I tried seven month, see #6359, even with proposals that get applause or absurd counter-arguments or even no answers:

  • #6787 - Grazing animals should not eat grass roots but only up to the lowest scissor level, see #1218. And dirt_with_something no longer becomes pure dirt.
  • #7058 - To make the spawnit command even better the area owner should be allowed to use a blacklist (high priority) and a whitelist (low priority).
  • #7059 - Even biome cows should no longer be able to reverse this decision in an area that has been deliberately converted by the area owner.

But the state itself does not change. What can I do?

So, the issue are specific mobs appearing in unwanted places or their unwanted behaviors...

I'll just leave this idea here, even though it's probably not ideal or easy to balance:

Would be nice to have more control over animals through gameplay means, not just through commands. Like having some blocks or objects you can place to control spawning or behavior.

For example, some animals could avoid specific plants or other animals. This way, if you want to avoid cows/sheep eating your grass, you could plant some garlic nearby (or that fiery plant, whatever), or maybe place a wolf guarding it. (kinda extending the MC idea of zombies not spawning where there's light or creepers running away from cats, etc).

This would probably require some balancing though, and giving fine-grained control over areas is probably "easier".

Ah, someone talked about my problem with TenPlus1 in the Luanti-Forum with the proposal as described in issue #6787. TenPlus1 immediately took care of it and made suggestions there. Maybe there is still hope after all.

TenPlus1 changed the setting of 'mobs_animal.eat_grass_block' in his Mobs Redo Mod to False by default now. Is this in YourLand the setting too now?

But if this can happen for the Mobs Redo Mod, can this be possible for the Petz too? My chest are filled with meat of thousands of thousands lambs and cows. I'm tired of always killing them. This has nothing to do with playing anymore. The landscape is also emptying of grown grass.

Why no blacklist or whitelist for the spawnit command? A reasonable explanation for this was not given.

Not yet. Such settings enter the main server only during updates (emergencies excepted). The setting is under investigation, but it currently lacks it's counterpart: Some way to regrow the grass. Regrow happens on grass blocks, but not on the grass decorations.

The setting Tenplus1 made only affects mobs_redo for petz we'd have to look at their code. When it comes to petz, we are the maintainer, so it's up to us to find that and change it if we want it.

Unfortunately for balancing reasons there cannot be a usercontrolled areasetting for a blacklist/whitelist of animals, else someone could easily set this to some target animal he right now wants to have and tomorrow another. Here's a prior issue #7776 and the specific explanation: #7776 (comment)
