debiankaios reports a bug:

add /afk, a command which turns you afk. You can't use this in nether only in city- and your own area. You can't move while afk-being you have a afk screen. If some one write a messeage to you it go to mail and he get message that player is afk. In the formspect you press Unafk or you just press escape and you are again back ingame

Afk people with have an autoresponder for msgs and they can display an afk message over their head, effectively acting as billboards.
