colored water: Maybe it can spawn in fiery biomes? like how some hot springs in volcanic areas has multicolor water.

personally, i think colored water should be craftable. at the very least, it should be a possible reward from christmas activities the same way beacons and fireworks are.

I like having them as quest rewards, makes them special. But its also true its been a long time since we last had them.

rethinking the bucket: #1746

that was originally about turning the bucket into a "normal tool" that could be used to "mine" liquid sources, not pick them up in the bucket.

however, adding the colored water to the existing default bucket would be pretty easy, though someone would need to make the art for it, i think. we can make a separate issue for that if you think it's a good idea.

Would it be possible to just colorize one bucket picture with diffrent colors in the inventory? To avoid having to add a crafting item for each one? Still requires an artist to do the basic texture and the color palette.

i think it's possible to specify an overlay and parameterize the coloring of the main image, but i've never played w/ that stuff before. also i think it only does really basic coloring (like, "multiply all pixels by this value"), so you couldn't have a liquid w/ more than one hue.

though i guess that's enough for "colored water"

me was curious

I reused the original bucket & lava texture from minetest_game and created a bit mask texture for the fluid part of the bucket texture to "fill" the bucket with lava

with the texture modifier [mask: you can "cut" out parts of another texture based on a bit mask image.
