The question of more spawn points, which is synonymous with travelnet or teleport, is probably the most common of all. And because it comes so often, there is also an entry in the FAQ, see:

.The good news: with the update 1.2 it will come such a function in the game, that you can chose another spawn city as Haven. I can't find a source for my claim right now, but that's how I've read it several times.
I think choosing another spawn city would mean to accept citizenship of that city ... and assuming that would mean visiting the mayor or someone in that city in person, it would not be really a usable way to fast-travel across cities faster.
You're both right - there is a "change citizenship" planned in the cities update
Then again, imo for me it will simply stay Haven: too many shops there + both sailship, airship and catapult. Cities basically always have 1 of the three, so if you want to go to Venezia from odonhull you need to go trho haven or walk
The main problem with the walk from /spawn to the airship or in particular sailship is the technical trouble Haven gives on slower connections and/or machines. That's a big waste of ressources.
It ought to be possible to travel from one harbour to another harbour on the same system directly without having to go via Haven sailship/airship in transition. Most of the time. Occasional failures/small quests would be fine.
A new city spawn ought not to be called /spawn and not remove the Haven one. We still need a /spawn for meeting quickly and helping other players. Maybe /chome or /city could be used for that.
An inner-city transport system would also be great. Maravillosa already has smaller boats for travelling around - just doesn't help because they offer no real transportation. Other cities could have coaches or other means of transport.
Haven lag: We need to solve that lag, not find ways around it.
Harbour to harbour: Balancing issue, but doable. Will be revised with 1.2 anyways
City spawn: With 1.2 You can decide which city your /spawn goes to
Inner-city transport system: Was turned down already, no teleport within a city
