daydream reports a bug:

I took some cut stuff out of saw and then put back some pieces and everything in the saw disappeared. when I tried to add a full block in case that's what it wants to proceed it wouldn't let me. Whoever messed with saw broke it pretty good.

If I remove the excess in any random shapes THEN I can put in a full block and insert the pieces but not until then... this behavior has changed... maybe even reverted, I know it was operating more user friendly for quite a while now tho.

I was able to reproduce this. Apparently this has been a recurring issue for months, though not many people have bothered to /bug it.
