rheo reports a bug:

maybe smartshops (and signs/itemframes/etc., but i have less control over those) should self regulate w.r.t. density. say you can't place more than 3 in an an L-inf volume of radius 3 or something.

I strongly disagree with this. It will make many shop designs cease to work. Also, why do you want to implement this?
