Is that only the case on YL or also on upstream?
Why not? You can turn the chest how you like it. Others may need all possible side connections for their machine constructions. For me this is not a bug, its an opportunity. Nothing changes in this since years. So let it the way it is.
It is a visual glitch and unexpected behaviour when a tube connects to a side of a chest which doesn't have one of those black squares.
Does it do anything wild? Most likely no.
which shared chest? tubes connect to the front of soko's chesttools shared chests just fine. the others are slated for removal at some point, hopefully.
