Wouldn't that cause copyright issues? As far as I knew the textures from Minecraft are proprietary.
Please try to address that as soon as possible.
I took a look and compared both textures and they are not the same. If you look closely you can see that the MineCraft Basalt texture has a different pattern than the Minetest nether basalt texture. However they are extremely close
Yes and being extremely close is also a problem.
Please give a public viewable source of the problematic texture so we can take a look ourselves. I don't have Minecraft, so I can't look at their textures.
On topic: No. Unless our texture is based on the Minecraft texture, there is no problem. Stone is grey, any stone in any game will be grey of sorts. If it doesn't have the same dents and pixel distribution, it will always resemble each other on first glance.
Alias: I’ll put the textures up here real quick, in just a sec
ok, there they are. They definitely look close, but not quite the same.
edit: I removed the MC textures
Which of those are MC and which of those are YL? I don't see any similarity?
The ones on the left are MC one on the right are YL/Normal MT ones
I don't think microsoft is gonna fight us over looks
Ya, and it isn’t exact
https://minecraft.wiki/w/Basalt
Before someone else posts a questionable source, downside you can only compare to a block style pic but should be enough for a basic comparision
Since the textures were found to NOT look similar: cannot reproduce.
Here’s another link. You’ll find the textures in the stone category, and it is the textures them selves, not the block
https://minecraft.wiki/w/List_of_block_textures
An alternative is. https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_block_textures
You are comparing the top and side of a texture. Try to look at it from above and it is way too similar.
Please provide a link to the original, so we can compare
I don’t see what you mean, the texture wouldn’t change once it’s on a node
Is the top of the node not the texture displayed looking at it from above? (which DW already showed and claimed to be not very similar)
I compared the texture to the one DW showed above and while the basic shape is vaguely similar at first glance, in the end I don't think the textures are the same.

Refer to DW's file for the basalt texture.
The below file is my best attempt at creating a side-by-side comparison of the top nodes of both basalt nodes.
its not a pixel by pixel copy of MC's nether basalt, so what's the issue?
The two differ enough.
result/wontfix anyone?
Looks different enough for me too.
