im fairly certain the poison mechanic is probably disabled since I have seen people complain on other servers w/ water_life about the poison
Iirc the snake did have a poison effect, but it was really buggy so it was disabled.
i know one of its bugs was the poison effect lasted through death (which the water_life dev said was "intentional" ???)
We disabled the poison effect on purpose because it is a bad game mechanic. All things that kill you or affect you in a negative way need a countermechanic of choice, by skill, by possession, ....
You don't want to die in pvp, then you have the choice not to enable pvp. If you want to take less damage, you put on more armour. There are Voice troops about to surround your position, you know when to get out if you want to live. You don't want to die to potato poisoning, then you stop eating more raw potatoes after the damage tick sets in.
There shouldn't be anything that simply kills you not matter what you do have or know. This is the case with snake poison, so we disabled it.
wontfix
i definitely don't think we should bring back the old snake poison mechanic, but some sort of poison mechanic for snakes, scorpions, etc. hasn't been totally vetoed in the past (#286, #325).
We need poison mechanics for yl_statuseffects, but then less ... unbalanced.
