... you will always see the recipe for the large bag first. That's not a bad thing, because with another click you get the right recipe, but it's certainly not meant that way.

That's the case of every recipe, right? It first shows what you can do with it, then what you need to craft what you searched for

unified_inventory remembers whether you were looking at recipes for an item, or recipes using that item. when you select any other item, it'll stay in that modality. when you first log in, it should be showing you recipes for the item. this is what i get when i first log in:
