Jammy reports a bug:

perhaps add an option in smartshop to limit how many times each player can purchase something. This will make sure people don't abuse the freebies.

I don't know if freebies belong in a commercial shop. So far, simple chests have mostly been used for this purpose. However, as the owner of a free beer chest, I know that some players take all the beers with them, so this is not optimal either. However, the NPCs are already able to assign a predetermined number of items per player and can also make a few matching spells. My recommendation: learn how to use the NPCs.
