My own experience with shields in Minecraft is that they mainly restrict the field of vision. If later after the guild update the warriors get a special shield, then so be it, but I don't want to have to walk around with it all the time now.

I'd like to have an active shield, but I want it in my field of vision only when I actually "block" with it. We'll see what upstream cooks up.

If I recall correctly, in Minecraft the shields are raised when you are holding a sword and hold right-click.
