Nomtom reports a bug:

Ents(moving tree monsters with eyes) are killing untamed animals(like cows, wolves ducks). I thought they are forest keepers so they should not kill any friendly mob and also player. Rather zombies, ghosts, mummies etc.

afaik they don't attack other mobs (except players, they happily go after them), unless that behavior got changed...

they've done this for .. i can't say "forever" because the mod is older than my time playing minetest, but as long as i can remember.
