maybe instead of damaging you, it makes you "itchy" and you have to remove your armor.
Maybe for your-land/administration#63 but even if there needs to be a clear understanding what caused it, how to prevent it and how to get rid of the effect.
Torches and fireplants also damage players, both are pretty flashy.
For me, the poison ivvy is a beautiful plant to decorate. If it were up to me, we would have many more beautiful climbing plants that, once planted, can also grow over a building or something similar on their own. Ok, this poison ivvy comes from North America and can actually irritate the skin on contact, but we all have thick armour on and don't eat the stuff. So no.
ok, damaging the player if they get near? that's not just a no but a HARD no from me.
an "you suddenly feel itchy" effect would work but only if the player doesn't have at least pants or boots.
otherwise, I'd say just leave the plant alone.
IRL poison ivy is pretty nasty stuff, even if you're clothed. the oils will rub off onto any of your clothes that touch any part of it, and if you touch your clothes later, you'll get it on your hands, and then possibly spread it to other parts of your body when you touch them.
but i'm not strongly in favor of making it toxic in-game.
Poisonous plants and other effects may or may not play a role in the future. result/maybe
