Yes. Other blocks were fine and only the onion (and garlic) were in default texture

Most likely the texture name is wrong and doesn't replace the texture in question. The item farming:onion has "crops_onion.png" as inventory image

if i've found the right texture pack (https://content.minetest.net/packages/tinneh/defaultpack_remastered/), it doesn't have textures for any farming/crops stuff, just about 39% of things from the default mod and unified_inventory.

That's because in singleplayer, things are different. You'd need the exact mod composition YL has.

are you using any other texture packs? are you sure you're not getting it confused w/ the cucina_vegana onion? if you prefer the look of the cucina_vegana veggies over the farming ones, i made a texture pack: https://content.minetest.net/packages/rheo/farming_cv/
