you can't even use full bottles, just glasses of beer.

but apparently none of the alcohol items return the glass when you use them.

Tested this issue using tenplus's version of wine and am not able to reproduce this bug in vanilla minetest with the mod and dependencies enabled. Is your land using a different/older version or possibly some other mod is overriding the on_use/do_item_eat which handles returning the glass?

Edit: I also ruled out stamina as a cause using minetest-mods stamina
