Sokomine reports a bug:

meat morsel ought to be directly eadible. it might give at least 1/2 heart. having to craft them into meat is too much effort, and the yield is too low

9 meat morsels make one meat, one meat restores 1.5 stamina. If one morsel restores 0.5 stamina, then there's no reason to craft them to meat.
