I think you need about 3 blocks thick wall to prevent them from glitching through ...
Whatever it is - nether mobs are not glitching thru - they're defeating you. Figure it out but it's not a bug and nether isn't meant to be or feel safe or easy.
well I made my neck of the nether safer, I agree that the nether isn't supposed to be safe but we need to draw a line between "dangerous" and "overkill"
it will likely get more dangerous - not less
I have put in my opinions on overkill myself, but in relation to voice battles, not nether. So I understand, but nether is meant to be very dangerous - and learning and experimenting really can make a big difference there. Technique is everything... can take some months to learn and perfect everything you need and by then, with any luck, it will be HARDER hehe
nether rats have a really small collision box thats also the cause why they stick their head/butt into nodes.
And because they are really determined to get you they manage to glitch through nodes from time to time, especially with not full nodes.
Can be annoying but fits the nether just being deadly and hard.
cf. #1173
verified that nether rats only spawn on "nether:rack" and "nether:rack_deep"
