perhaps every XP gaining action and result should be logged?
At least those that result from other actions than placement, crafting or digging. xp coins are already logged and quests are usually logged as well. Killing mobs need to be logged and level ups. What else may be of interest?
Make that level up history available to players? Only to the players themshelves of course. And won't work for past levelups.
log xp and level up events:

it's easier just to log them all, if it's too spammy, we can change it later.
i don't understand. players already get a notice when they level up?
QA: Nice!

I'd like to have a history. Like: On 1.04.21, you reached level 1. On 20.04.21 level 10 etc.
Might be intresting for players.
That may be a nice feature, worth a new issue. This one exclusively deals with writing levelups to log. Minetest does not have native database access apart from few and inconvenient API, storing values on players is always a costly undertaking atm.

assuming this is live, though i can't see the logs.
From log: Yes, it's live. This already helped find issues with xp
