Not in favour. Is that a privacy problem?
For some it seems to be a privacy problem (channel name ought to be secret).
For the others it's a spam problem. Players who are on a private channel sometimes want to - and ought to! - contribute to general chat. But their chat entries are displayed completely diffrent. They ought to look the same as normal chat entries.
The players themshelves and those on the special channel even get messages sent to global chat twice.
i'm moderately in favor the proposed change, i don't feel that i've fully evaluated it though
Had it happen multiple times that random people joined a channel I was in, just because a message of mine revealed the channel I am in. And I definitely didn't like that. So either don't display that or give the option to create invite only channels.
Yesterday it started as a joke between two players, but it was certainly also about getting special attention through the green chat lines. When shop advertising was finally done in this way, I got the two players out of the channel. That certainly wasn't nice of me either, but whenever the green lines appear, I think it would be an important message. This is really annoying when players consciously use it over a longer period of time.
The main conflict doesn't seem to have been solved?
I'm still very much in favour of hiding the channel name when sending on public channel.
With the input given I changed my mind. Let's remove the channel name and the special colour and make it appear the text came right out of the main channel?
