Now that "/killme" message is something other than drowning in air...
Please add to this your suggestions for a rotating array of "unusual death" messages. I know, I know, we just asked to move away from ambiguous "drowned in air" message but I think that was just not silly enough and players would ask "how do you drown in air?"
I'll start:
"$player folded on pocket Aces."
"$player bounced a graviton particle beam off the main deflector dish."
"How much is that $player in the window? Please tell me this dog is for sale... woof! woof!"
"$player chromed up and went for valhalla. Mediocre!"
And also a variant for PvP kill messages that involves both players.
"$player1 sold $player2 some bad parsley"
"$player1 met $player2 on the great wall to the North."
"$player1 slipped on $player2's banana peel."
"$player1 asks, 'Dear $player2, are you happy now?'"
and so on... That it is a killme or PvP kill message could be announced to all how much XP was lost; i.e. "$player folded on pocket Aces. (11318XP loss)"
I do not want to tell everyone how much xp someone lost automatically. There may be players who do not wish to reveal that.
I like the idea to have more "ingame" messages when it comes to killme, but some of those suggestion ... I wouldn't guess they relate to the killme command :D
But it would be interesting to see a little PvP statistic. How many hits did the fighter dish out and pocket, and whether gapples were eaten.
these proposals are perhaps a bit too whimsical for my taste. but i do think some things like
"@1 fell @2."
should perhaps sometimes instead emit"@1 succumbed to gravity @2."
or"@1 bought the farm @2."
.Not all proposals are readable. I did not know the "bought the farm" phrase and also some others, so with non-native speakers too whimsical messages may cause confusion.
