daydream reports: instead of are ban players who ...to daydream reports: instead of area ban players who ...In rare cases (newbie harvesting melon and forgetting cutting board, or accidentally dropping seeds outside of farm area) this could effectively jail the player forever. I suggest doing a different punishment.
I personally like this idea
I was only joking... halfway - I saw someone recommend this idea in the chat as I was going by and thought it was interesting at least.
Once we were also joking about "divine punishment" for non-replanters (high chance of getting struck by lightning?). Or lowering their "karma", which would lower their yields from crops and drop chances. In theory, you could just tell them that there is a karma stat, and that may affect how people behave. :P
i swear i proposed this somewhere before, but i'm not finding it now.
I'm not sure if that'll really help. Those players are in general pretty cueless. The idea seems sound at first, but...when they get less drops they'll be even less capable of replanting. And not understand what is going on.
Perhaps a diffrent approach might help: Those who do replant get a free cutting board from Uncle Owen? Still, detecting that technicly is tricky.
It sounds like a mechanic that is nice to have, but should come not at the beginning of someone's encounter with the public farm.
"farm jail"
What if they lose interact privilege except planting, and get a stack of seeds?
We should continue to try in the nice way.
There are several reasons why replanting is not done properly:
We have already tried a lot. My suggestions are:
To check the posters again to see if they are up to date. What do you need these plants for?
Uncle Owen was not supposed to be at the end of the Public Farm, but right in front of the trees. Perhaps he not only binds annoying monsters there, but also gives information about each of the existing plants, including wood. It should be the same texts as on the posters. So please don't use complicated and completely confusing conversation structures for newcomers, but only the list of plants and then the text in the simplest English as an answer. And instead of a "Fairwell" he can always send a "Fairwell - Don't forget to replant"
And we can easily solve the melon and pumpkin problem by putting one or more NPCs back there as pure traders. That is now easily possible. They sell cutting boards for whatever. These NPCs should be allowed to be operated and filled by experienced players. Competition stimulates the business and newcomers get stuff as initial equipment with which they could pay. If no one else is interested, I would put a dealer from Rubodyke there, but I think the privilege there could also be advertised and is well received.
On some other servers the farm work semi-automatically (you farm stuff, then push a button and some machine replants everything), so some people may think this is the case here (even if it is not).
Cutting board can also be a pain point for newbies ...
that's what farmer owen is for
I still like my ideas. As one of the master bailiffs it is my job to look for solutions to making the situations there better and better. Yesterday, Uncle Owen worked well, but it wasn't always like that. Let him stay there. Nevertheless, there may be other traders as NPCs in the melons and pumpkins, as suggested.
And if it's not Uncle Owen who makes the explanation at the entrance to the Public Farm, then just a nice fairy. It doesn't matter at all, the main thing is that someone is standing there and can take over part of the help. And it can also have a button where the players can request help with the ingame bailiffs: "player XY looks for help near the public farm".
