i'm not a huge fan of bushes spawning in protected areas myself. some players may appreciate it, but few builders like it when nodes suddenly appear in their protected areas.
The original way of reproducing them was by digging with a shovel. Which randomly ought to give you 2 bushes instead of one (like seperating one bush into two and thus creating saplings). They need some time to regrow fruit anyway.
That mechanism seems broken.
you can use a shovel to occasionally get a 2nd bush, but only from a bush that's currently bearing fruit. see #2551
Let's discuss bush reproduction in the appropriate issue indicated by flux.
This issue is about bushes suddenly appearing in a protected area.
Affects regrow mechanic your-land/administration#134
There are various mechanics altering a protected area without the areaholder's consent. Poison ivy, lava VS water, falling nodes, ...
Question is, which are welcome, accepted or even required from a gamedesign perspective?
I have to constantly remove bushes and poison ivy from my protected areas. I would have to cut the grass too but I got every last blade of it in the biome so that doesn't really spread now - but nothing stops the poison ivy and same old bushes over and over. For sure annoying.
i've created an upstream issue to discuss this: https://github.com/mt-mods/plantlife_modpack/issues/40
Since this is a gamedesign decision, I'd rather not have this option taken away.
what do you mean? my current proposed solution is to create a server setting that'd enable or disable having these plants spawn in protected areas, and my long-term solution is to have it depend on a proper area-dependent callback and user-controlled area metadata.
