We do have this already. You are attacked by nights. I'm not sure whether carrying a lightsource really deterrs any mob, but at least you see what's attacking you when you carry lights with you.
Discussed it with Alias - We think, from a game balancing standpoint nights and caves are dangerous enough currently. Thank you though for the suggestion, very much appreciated.
i got here via a tangent, and apologies for necroposting. but it'd be interesting if one or more mobs feared players wielding torches. clearly, it shouldn't be all of them. oerkki come to mind, but that conflicts w/ their current behavior of seeking and snuffing out any light they can. perhaps hostile petz mobs should fear torches?
