i don't understand
just musing bout how we could use airships without heavy issue.
heavy issue? what is that?
@Horus are you suggesting something like, install the steampunk airship mod (see #2021) for just a couple days a month or something? i'm not sure how laggy it really is, but the weekends are usually our busiest time.
still sort of munching on this idea for what would be apt.
Can you please explain like you were talking to an idiot what's the plan here? I honestly do not understand the issue.
i think horus wants to introduce a way to use the airship mod mod on your-land, in a way that doesn't interfere w/ day-to-day server functionality. IMO the biggest issue w/ introducing the airship mod is that it will let people "cheat" or "cheese" things by flying over them, and we'd need to introduce some logic to mitigate that.
what's "mitigate" auf deutsch? that's one of my favorite words in english...
In this case "mitigate" might best translate to "entschärfen", literally "make it less sharp", meaning "make it that it is a lesser problem to a point where it is no problem anymore"
We could at least try the airship on the testserver and without crafting recipes add them to YL. They only cause lag when you use them. Then we can kind of offer rides, but only certain players could steer them: Those we are sure of they wouldn't cause mayhem.
i like the suggestion of only allowing certain players fly them around, and other people could come along as passengers.
i haven't tested this, but i think only the "owner" of the blimp can currently fly them, so we don't need to request a privilege to be added.
What if travel to villages #2997 is done via some automated form of airship? Is that even possible?
Maybe you can parachute over a village?
that'd be pretty cool actually. if advanced trains can exist, an airship network could absolutely be coded into existance.
Too slow for practical purposes...the zeppelins are very decorative and fun to fly. They're not fit for establishing travel lines or replacing the stage coach idea.
i dunno, they're not practical if your goal is to get to a destination, but they'd be a neat way to explore the server in a safe manner.
