alias's cats are cute enough, but i'd appreciate this :)
here's a 128-pixel wide version:
That's how it would look like:
i'll supply a version which isn't stretched, tomorrow.

actually, after mucking about w/ GIMP for an hour, i think i'll just take the version you offered :)
Alternative: Send us a high quality picture and a certain Styxcolor will fix it in less than 5 minutes.
Yees, this is only a despicable scheme to get hold of high quality cat pictures ;)
is there a file size limit? guessing so. the source JPG is 6.1 MB.
EDIT: appears it's 4.0 MB (or is it MiB?)
reduced the resolution, exported to PNG, ran pngquant and pngcrush
fun flux facts: i've actually got a decent amount of graphics design experience, particularly with photo enhancement, but i'd had access to free versions of photoshop from 2.0 to CS3 through either through having contacts who reviewed software, or school, or jobs. but i was never able to adapt the skills to GIMP in any meaningful capacity, and gimp just fundamentally confuses me a lot.
later i worked for an engineering firm that did 3d scanning in the mid 2000s, and wrote a number of 2d and 3d image processing algorithms, mostly based on level-set techniques and n-ary greycodes, but that code was all written in C#, and again, no longer usable. one of the perks of working that job was that i had access to a bevy of fancy SLR cameras and lenses, and used that to try to jumpstart a career in art photography, though i only ever sold 2 photos. i've got whole workflows in my mind built around augmenting photos to fit in square frames, but it's been a long time since i've had access to the tools to make those flows flow.
picture of my cat is live, i'll supply a 2:3 (86x128) texture on #2577
