This is also a candidate for a wtf label. Does that mean whenever I access an itemshelf, the shelf fumbles around and tries to find an item at a position it expects?
no, currently, it only updates the entities when slots are either emptied or filled. it removes any existing entities in the area, and re-creates them.

, the way i had to get them to display again was to move things around in all of them.this happened again to half of my shelves (along a mapblock boundary)
