Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?

This sounds like a "more of the same request". Currently to obtain saplings a player needs to dig leaves blocks. If he doesn't get "enough" saplings, he can simply place them and dig them again. That's ok, IMO. He can also put them into a mesemachine and let the machine do it for him. On industrial level this adds a bit of lag, but that's also ok, IMO.
A general enchantment to get more and different drops in exchange for the tool wearing out quicker may be an option.
That's why I'd add result/maybe for later implemenation.
