Bla reports a bug:

killing hostile mobs gives xp but also animals from mobs_animal give xp. just tested with 2 very hostile looking calfs giving 8xp each

First Yes: As far as I know only hostile mobs should give xp so you shouldnt get xp from most of the mobs_animal mobs.

Second Yes: If all mobs should give xp you dont get them from killing petz mobs.

I noticed that I didnt get xp by running a duck(petz) farm, got curious if its the same with mobs_animal mobs and tested it with cows there.
