Sokomine reports a bug:

snow really ought to be renewable. please add a 1:1 conversion command for snow <-> ice. there's never enough material to fix all the dammage from griefing mobs or lava on miocene moves. ice -> snowball -> snow block is just too much of a loss conversion-wise

Trouble is that fixing the griefing that occours on the Miocene Trail is close to impossible with current mechanics. Yes, we could devote our time to produce ice with machines. I don't think that's a good solution.
