this is a comment about #4473, i presume? i agree that most things shouldn't be destroyed by lava
What's an example of something that SHOULD be burned in lava? (Instead of just sinking)
my thinking was that anything that could be used as furnace fuel should be destroyed (e.g. wood), and anything that can be cooked in a furnace should get cooked (e.g. raw meat -> cooked meat)
There is a
group:flammable
if you search for it in the crafting guide, there are 16 pages of items. Those sound reasonable to be processed in lava.We still need to be careful not to burn stuff like written books or other uniques
TIL "farming:glass_water" is flammable 😕
Might want to exclude everything nether(nodes/drops/etc) from burning/cooking in lava.
i'm not aware of any item from the nether that'd be destroyed by either the mechanism that Alias or i proposed - am i missing something? there's a few things that can be cooked, but they are already cooked if they are mob drops and the mob is killed w/ fire or lava, e.g.
mobs:meat_raw
andnether:nether_lump
. i feel this is reasonable, do you really think they should not be cooked?"from nether" probably not but "in nether"
Anyway, players will misuse that mechanic no matter if in nether or not to make fuel free instant cooking "furnace" builds 🤷
After #4473 was closed wontfix, we'll not have items burning in lava or similar. At best we could make it that fuel and really obvious burnables cause a small poof effect, but that's about it. I don't want people defeat a dragon and then see their dragon scale drop into a lava pond.
Although this opinion may change when new information arises, but until then wontfix.
