name tags mentioned above: Nellie and Bessie. Nellie is missing. (level 1 protection rune) the area was protected and i was within 2 mapblocks distance when it happened, i heard no ghosts or other mobs nearby.
another biome cow disappeared before similarly though it didnt have name tag
before disappearing, it jumped quite high, about 4-5 nodes from ground but for this reason i collected it with a lasso and put back on the field, than it has stopped jumping (but disappeared later)
quite the surprise, after a time, it just had reappeared.
i think we should close issues like this in favor of creating mechanism to log whenever mobs take damage or die.
Yes, you can experience many surprises with biome cows. They can cover very long distances in a very short time and thus move far away. In the end, however, I have always found them again.
It's a shame when a mimic disguises itself as a biome cow, especially since it also has 20 hp. Danger of confusion!
What is funny, however, is that the white status display can sometimes change and then show significantly less information.
