balrog whips can be used to kill players despite protection, but you can't create the nodes in protected areas.

if the elite who have balrog whips are abusing this, that's probably punishable. but usually when the whips are used, casual players have no chance to survive either way.

however, probably we should figure out a way to make that damage pvp aware. we'll have to interrupt node damage and an attribute the cause to a player and not a mob.
