upstream issue: https://github.com/fluxionary/minetest-mobs_mime/issues/1
Sure that these were always nodes? So far I only observed that behavior with that entity:
https://github.com/minetest-mods/3d_armor/blob/master/3d_armor_stand/init.lua#L302
https://github.com/fluxionary/minetest-mobs_mime/blob/main/core/procedures.lua#L100
will adapt some uncommon entities without a real collision box, such as the one mentioned above.
Edit: Could it be possible that the collision box is kept when the mime decides to no longer represent an entity?
Saw one glitched into the floor yesterday. It looked really odd. Was a pony wagon that the mime tried to imitate. Wasn't able to hit the mime.
if you know what you're looking for, this is currently very common. mimes pretending to be polar bears are usually glitched into the floor.
tried my hands on that issue.

My first contribution to a public repo, I hope I did nothing wrong...
this might be fixed w/ tour's update, but as i never had a good way of replicating the issue, i'm going to let things wait a while longer. mimes still do seem to glitch around occasionally.
i haven't heard of or noticed any mime collision issues in a while, closing this as complete.
