Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
Since the new update there is a really annoying sound. Bla managed to find out that it's the bat sound from here: https://notabug.org/TenPlus1/ambience
I think (and at least one other player, too) that that sound is really annoying. It is kinda unsettling. And imo it plays quite often, more than any other ambience sound as far as I can tell currently (or it just feels like that because I perceive it as annoying).
I was wondering if it could be removed or if at least the volume of that particular sound could get turned down?
I know the /svol command exists, but I really like the ambience sounds and don't wanna turn them down just because of one sound.
for me, the biggest issue w/ the sound is its length. perhaps it could be splint into several smaller sounds.
Soundpacks (like texturepacks, but for sounds) still aren't a thing in MT, right?
https://wiki.minetest.net/Sound_Packs
thats why I just rejoined a couple times, couldn´t get it to work
Could there be a sound menu added where you can disable sounds? I also find this noise very annoying.
Perhaps the bats sound is such a problem because there are many bats. They're also only rarely picked up and offered sanctuary in a chest. So there are many bats around that can make sounds. And if it's a long sound...
Still, in theory it ought to work to override the sound with a locally installed one - like with textures.
If so many people get annoyed by this sound, perhaps removing it might be the best solution?
the ambience bat sound has nothing to do w/ the petz batz.
Its an ambience sound not a mob sound so even if there is no bat it gets played😉
Tried that but couldn´t get it to work, any idea how that works?
@AliasAlreadyTaken are you okay w/ us doing a "hard" fork from upstream? ambiance is by its nature a very server-specific mod, and there's already like a dozen active forks out there for various servers. it's also not very easy to override via integration mods.
@AliasAlreadyTaken do we use "ambience music" for anything? files named "ambience_music.1.ogg" through "ambience_music.9.ogg"? i feel like it'd be easier to just strip out that code, particularly since we want to have our own "music" that is related to specific locations?
another question: what's actually responsible for playing random mob noises to players? it doesn't actually seem to be ambience.
