Suggestion: Make bed a healing place #3237

Since bed just became a decorative item at this point and not everyone sleeps together. So I suggest we modify it to heal (restore hearts).

This makes a kind of sense for it to be a fast healing node. What side-effects are there? Can you fight balrog/dragon from bed?

Since classic Minecraft doesn't allow players to sleep when enemies are around, then this should be same for minetest beds in Your land server

Currently NPC priests can heal people and player priests will also be able to.

Fast Healing mechanics may become more important once players can have up to 400 hitpoints.

Beds are a nice idea as well, but making them fastheal people while they are also invincible in beds will lead to people carrying beds into combat, placing them in the warzone and fasthealing while left and right magic spells and cannon balls fly around.

We cannot detect whether a bed is placed in what humans easily understand as shelter.

  1. We could make it that beds need a certain age before they heal people.
  2. We could make it that mobs target beds and those are not invincible.
  3. We could make it that beds only heal people if they are placed in an area.
  4. We could make it that beds only heal people if they are placed in an area owned by the sleeper.

For 3 and 4 we also need the "area cannot be created when enemies are nearby" feature.

You have not read my comment completely, I said just like a regular bed in minecraft where you can not sleep or lay when "enemies are around", so this should be implemented same in Minetest bed where you can't lay in the bed to heal because enemies are around. So taking beds into combat become useless.
