there's no chance of doing something like this w/out SSCSM, and i'm not sure it'll be easy to get SSCSM to write files to disk in its final form:
you can also hack your client to allow you to run basic CSCSM (not SSCSM), and install my chatlog csm, and then check the debug.txt file that minetest creates as its log.
oh right, and we're likely to get the solution to #2790, which will let you write the output of a command into an in-game book.
