This was my first point at my top 10 petz wishes, look:
https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?p=410958#p410958
(I am Minecheck there), but runs ignored my wishes, after he asked so hard for ideas.
So, maybe, we should play with that a little bit to give it replay and back and hold it at position?
i'm pretty sure i remember runs rejecting this idea explicitly at one point, though i don't have a reference for that.
I like the idea of suspending the growing-up process
Maybe we didn't present enough use case to runs? Or he read over it because in the posts following your wishlist they only go back and forth over the poney breeding thing.
runs wants the mod to feel a certain way. he wants it to be "realistic" in certain ways, and not have the mobs feel like they are "automata". i remember the objection being along those lines.
where did i post the wishlist?
perhaps, being able to breed dwarf (and giant) varieties of animals should be possible...
I think without getting rid of petz and making our own thing with opinion-agnostic API some things like this will never happen.
If I had to choose between fixing petz and doing a new API, I'd rather go for the latter. Maybe we can even use mobkit as a basis and contribute to theirs?
