I looked at that machine but couldn't find anything odd. It's a simple water well machine.
my guess: mapblock boundaries. pipes connecting inventories in different mapblocks are inherently unreliable:
this can't be fixed w/out fundamentally rewriting pipeworks to not move things between inventories as entities.
your-land/administration#112
I had the same with some water receipes, like for crafting clay. If you will start them by putting to much dirt and sand inside, the than refilled much buckets will have no place.
But I think, a mese maker must learn this by doing, how a fine machine works round and how to start nice nachine circles. So, I see it not as a bug. In the RL, when I can't handle a machine in a good way, I will loose stuff to.
there was also a hot moment where buckets suddenly couldn't go into machines, which caused problems (#2055), but that fix was live far before this was reported.
@Boot But I always leave enough space for the buckets, usually even a bit more. So it can't be the "wrong usage" that's the problem here (and it's kinda mean of you to assume that).
It also happened to me again just this week.
@JeCel i recommend you move the system one node to the right (from the perspective in the screenshot above). then it won't cross mapblock boundaries and will (probably) be more reliable.
It just happened again (and I think multiple times before) eventhough I moved the machine as suggested. Lost about 4 or 5 buckets.
oof, i dunno :\ i've got a similar machine. i haven't lost any buckets, but i don't use it much. i've also got no other ideas, other than "pipeworks is terrible".
closing as dupe of #3735, see that issue for more information.
