This is a documentation and tutorial issue.
We should assist new players not only in this case. Maybe we could even send them off on a "quest" to settle in, with achievements and awards?
Sounds like a case for the quest API though, which is 1.4

Thing is, i feel like most new players are completely new to the game, and baerly know how to move. Having such message, well, they'd need to see the chat first...and some are completely oblivious to it. About tutorials, i'd agree for a "forced" tutorial? We could make an event to make it (the building or whatever)
