for one, it's made out of cooked meat, not raw meat.
for another, it's made out of anything in
group:food_meat
. doing this would allow players to convert tofu and imitation meat into actual meat.Def not cooked meat... I was tryign to store a lot of raw meat to use as a werewolf and blocked it up as one does to save storage but, unlike other blocks, I couldn't unblock it back to 9 single items. A few players complained about it too - all werewolves, for what it's worth.
A cooked meat block may (will have to test) basically be a meat cake, and that is a baked cake item so not even edible by a werewolf at night - different problem tho, and while not a bug, very confusing for players - again werewolves who are trying to save space or have maximized nutritional options.
it's 100% cooked meat.
(also, those creatures from
water_life
will become "raw" meat in the near future, i've already written that code)allowing werewolves to eat cooked meat is a to-do item, which will probably happen whenever it is that i get around to re-writing the petz werewolf code as a "status effect" w/ a better API. but that's dependent on rewriting how eating (and possibly crafting) work as well.
see #1672 and #1680 (and some admin issues which you can't see...) for the current discussion on that; i intend to alter how things work to balance things more, but werewolves will always be "hungry" compared to normal players.
The meat (any meat in meat group) in the grid is bright red, all cooked meat in the game is darker color to denote cooked meat... there's no indication to the player that they're cooking their raw meat when they do this recipe to save space, but it does make sense that you can't just turn any cooked meat into raw meat, ofc. This just takes players by surprise and most who block meat are werewolves who do NOT want (or know) that they're cooking it when they do this. Even the final block is again bright red and raw looking.
Fair enough on the needs of werewolves because they do have some special strengths so that has to be balanced, for sure.
that's "imitation meat", there's no cooked variant. honestly, i feel like it shouldn't even be in the "meat" group (and neither should tofu)...
I think tofu is a fair substitute for meat or people that don't want to kill animals - when I was werewsolf I had a huge soy farm - the actual tofu is quite expensive to make, in terms of resources, time and trouble - all a fitting balance for being able to not kill animals. In fact when I started playing I wouldn't kill animals (do it with abondon now lol) at all because I came into the game from a gaming background that just didn't involve any killing (car racing mostly, sims franchaise, simulated sports games and VR) so at the time an alternative was very much welcome or I would have had bad dreams about all the killing - and I did end up having one but I'm okay now. I think this alternative is realistic tho and balanced too, as well as important for a certain segment of gamers.
It's from the mod "cucina vegana" meaning "vegan kitchen", which implies that it's a mod for vegans. Removing it from the meat group..... RUINS. THE. POINT!
not really. those things ought to still be used in recipes to make complex food like burgers. but they shouldn't e.g. be edible by werewolves.
In that case, you still got daydream's comment.
From #1708:
Therefore, having advantages of speed and strength as a werewolf inevitably comes with drawbacks. They're limited to bloody meat like in the stories, among the traits mentioned above.
There's also your-land/administration#135
Some sources claim the Transformation comes with pain and loss of control, incites bloodlust. A werewolf can sense "life juice" and is drawn to acquire it, read: kill
The "werewolf condition" was compared to rabies. A werewolf shouldn't be able to cast magic spells. And so on ...
Now I wonder why I put all that stuff here and not into the admin task where it belongs.
On topic: The meat block is made out of cooked meat, all we could do is convert it back to "9 generic cooked meat".
In my opinion tofu meat may very well be a substitute in recipes. Tofu meat should not be in the raw meat group though and not be available to werewolves. Cooked
There are two groups. group:food_meat_raw and group:food_meat (which means "cooked)
The icons for both groups is the same, which is confusing to say the least. Can we alter the icon for a group or is that chosen on some "last loaded" or "first loaded" or "random" basis??
i might get around to re-designing werewolves earlier than that; after i make the new mob API, i will be porting all our mobs to it. mob mods that have supplemental content like werewolves will have to have that content excised in some fashion. for werewolves, doing that properly will require a good status effect API mod, so that will take some extra time. but at the current rate, i'm guessing 1.4 in 2025 :)
