i personally don't like random players asserting that they're "basically staff" and think we should squash this one way or another.
on the other hand, i don't think the "officers" group has ever done anything bad, and it's always nice to have more players offering to help new users.
When the officers formed, I told the then-initiator mad-dog86, that they must make it clear they are not staff, affiliated with staff or in any other way hold official capacities.
The official helpers/moderators are bailiffs. Some of them have applied for bailiff, but for whatever reason the people of yourland did not choose them for office.
The idea behind yourland is to have people govern themselves. They have a say in who holds office and who doesn't. staff is meant purely for the inevitable technical maintenance.
So, what do we do with this issue? I'll talk to the leader of the officers, to make it extra clear and that as soon as someone thinks they are staff, affiliated or otherwise, they need to change what gives this impression.
maddog86 gave control of the OFFICERS party to paneg. paneg has worked to fix all instances where OFFICERS appeared to claim they were staff or staff-like. this sign is gone. closing.
