JeCel reports a bug:

The bottle from the honeybottle [bees] disappears when using it eventhough it needs to be crafted before. I think the player should get the empty bottle back after using the honeybottle.

if you "eat" the honey, you get a bottle back. getting a bottle back when crafting is recipe dependent, until i implement a new crafting system which is "replacement aware"

the API to make it so that craft recipes don't have to manage replacements themseves is https://github.com/fluxionary/minetest-craftsystem. once that is installed, recipes can be managed.
