That sounds like travelnet or otherwise portals, which is a definite no.

If the city is on the surface of the world, there are hardly any circumstances where no airship could dock, but some landbased vehicle(?) could.

To me that sounds more like the same principle as air/seaship but with a train or coach.

We've talked before about an underground steampunk-style drilling machine, that would function like the airship/sailship, which you said has been planned for a while.

Another possible idea is that priests could open up portals to other towns with churches, possibly subject to the discussion about priest TP mechanics in #1572.

Yes, underground transportation is planned. But I do not want to add more surface level travel like a bus(?) that travels roads. Caravans are part of the cities update.

I'll add this issue to the cities update regardless, because it has intersting ideas.
