I just checked the code. The current settings are:
lycanthropy = true
lycanthropy_infection_chance_by_wolf = 20000
lycanthropy_infection_chance_by_werewolf = 10000
And I assume this means a high probability to become infected. What would be more modest numbers though? I guess we can only guess and test. I will halve them and hope.
Fixed in:
commit 2ea2dfee9efc0de8eb28e1d8ce2cbd00cd2bde0c
Not closing the issue though, as that might still be too much, depending on the feedback next week.
Alias told me that I changed the numbers into the wrong direction. In order to become more seldom, the infection rate numbers must go up not down, so they're at 30000/20000 now.
Fixed in:
commit ba2060e959cca30b5da5bba06bf4fb0dfa625d14
Sent a message to flux asking whether they see any betterment with the issue.
Wrote with Flux, apparently the issue isn't fixed still.
i think styx has my reply in in-game email, but this is because there's separate logic to turn players into werewolves 100% of the time when they are bitten by a black wolf, that can't be disabled through configuration.
