I finally had the time to thoroughly check out xdecor. The mod unfortunately is not a good fit for Your Land. A lot of things are included that we have already like flowerpot and wooden bowl and some of the decor really doesn't fit our visual style anymore. But there were some great and inspiring ideas and I'm sure I can bring some of that in for Your Land. It might just resurface in a different form in the end.
The tatami mat is interesting as a study how a carpet could work, the thing is, if you put a carpet on the floor like this you mightnot be able to put furniture on top, as the carpet counts as a node, despite being quite flat.
Is there a way we can add a bazillion flat carpet nodes without going too hard against the node limit?
I'd like to see this fixed by adding a single tatami "block" with
paramtype2 = "facedir"
. You could still put stuff on top of it. If really necessary, we could add that to the circular saw. We can steal the texture from xdecor or homedecor (which both have similar tatami mats).Couldn't at least a few nodes of the xdecor be added? Afterall there is already the enchantment table from it on the server.
It has some nice nodes I often find myself needing. For example the multishelf, the cupboards and the light nodes.
Also, I don't think the flowerpots would hurt. Imo, the flowerpots of xdecor look better than the ones we have currently, but both kinda serve a different purpose. While those we already have are meant for indoor decoration, the ones from xdecor can be used to decorate windowsills.
It also adds some nice closeable curtains, though only in one color and a way better looking door than the default ones we currently have.
And, the argument that some of the items don't fit the visual style doesn't make much sense. We already have a lot of those items, e.g. the rather modern looking windmill turbines, the pipeworks stuff, beacons or the industrial honey extractor and bee hive.
Overall, I think this mod could really improve decorating with only a few nodes.
We'd have to cut xdecor up and only grab those mechanics and nodes we want, much like cottages.
it has settings for this: https://codeberg.org/Wuzzy/xdecor-libre/src/branch/master/settingtypes.txt.
on the other hand, we could add a fourth kind of beehive

My moresnow mod cheats a bit in that regard by placing the carpet on top of the visual node sitting there. You still can't have carpet, table on top and a glass bottle on the table, but you can for example have a chair or bench standing on a carpet.

It's about seven nodes per texture/color and allows for many intresting furniture combinations.
I wrote the mod long before hardware coloring became a thing. If someone absolutely not at all looking at Styxcolor :) could create a texture palette that covers the wool node colors, then we might do all these woolen carpets and stair covers with just 2x those seven nodes. I might also go the wallmounted way, thus allowing 32 colors. Those nodes aren't placed manually/with a screwdriver anyway. They're placed on top of the node they cover. Though that might require more programming logic. Just two palettes a 8 colors of the wool would probably be best.
The special carpet texture requested here would still require its own node(s).

YL is very poor regarding doors. The arc ones are great but do not fit everywhere.
