This is a compilation of the most useful chatcommands.
You can access all chatcommands by opening the chat with the [t] key or the [F10] key, type "/help all" (without the "") and hit the [Return] key.
Many mods bring new chatcommands with them, so this book might occasionally receive updates. Obtain a new copy of this book in the library, top floor, of the basic tutorial.
msg <name> <message> Sends a private <message> to player with <name>. Should the player be offline, an ingame mail is sent to them instead.
utc Shows the current time in utc. Really, don't use localtime for appointments. Use utc.
/admin Shows the name of the server owner
/staff Shows all staff members. (green=available,yellow=online,red=offline)
/helpme <message> Sends a helpme request to staff both ingame and on discord. Use with care, for things that can't wait or be reported with the bug command Examples are disturbing misbehaviour of a player, extreme lag or a hacker abusing privs.
/urgent <message> Sends an urgent message to all admins both ingame and on discord Use with extreme caution, you will immediately summon all available staff. Examples are someone burning down the server. Really, don't use this for fun.
/mods List mods installed on the server
/status Show server status, especially the max_lag
/sethome Set your home point to current location
/home Teleport back to your home point
/spawn Teleport back to the Haven spawnpoint
/report <name> <message> Reports a player called "name". Remember to also include what he did. Example: /report Alias He's stupid
/bug <message> Reports a bug, when something went wrong or you discovered something odd. Replace <message> with your text.
/lag Use if you feel the server lags. Causes the server to start logging lag-messages for later review.
/area_upvote <id> /area_downvote <id> Upvotes or downvotes an area with the given id. You have one vote per week, so make it count! The result is shown in your area HUD
/area_ban <id> <name> Bans a player with <name> from your area with <id>
/area_unban <id> <name> Unbans a player with <name> from your area with <id>
/area_info Shows you some information about your areas. Since areas are a huge thing, this will be covered in another topic: [areas]
/protect_this <areaname> Protects the area with your position in the center. This means you will protect 32 in every plain direction, 64 and 64 down.
/thankyou <name> Sends a visible "Thank you" to another player Use, when someone has done you a favour
/thankyousilent <name> Sends an invisible "Thank you" to another player Use, when someone has done you a favour, but you don't want everyone to know
/info <name> Shows some info about a player. Currently, only the collected thankyou appear there.
/whoami Shows your name. Most helpful for people who make extensive use of alt accounts
/toggle_woodcutting Toggle whether woodcutting is enabled. When building with trunks, you may want to disable woodcutting to not autochop your construction by accident.
/c Create, enter, leave or show Chat channels. Use /c help for a brief overview
/p Create, enter, leave or show parties. Use /p help for a brief overview
/mail Open your mailbox. From there, you can send and receive ingame mails.
/killme Kills you. You are totally stuck and not even /spawn or /home can save you? Try /killme, but proceed with caution. You will die!
/hotbar <number> Change the amount of hotbar slots available to you to <number>
/help Shows the ingame help menu
/privs <name> Show privileges of yourself when no <name> is given or those of another player with <name>

You can find your current keybindings when you hit the [Esc] key and select the [change keys] button.
Some keybindings are different depending on the client version. Here we list the default keybindings, it won't help if you changed them.
Forward [w]
Backwards [s]
Left [a]
Right [d]
Special/Run [e]
Jump/Climb up/swim up [space]
Sneak/Climb down/swim down [shift]
Drop item [q] Hint: in order to avoid unwanted loss due to accidental pressing of the key, it may help a lot to change this keybinding to another less important key further away from the forward key [w].

These keys are the default set. You can additionally assign keys to decrease the volume, increase the volume or the autoforward feature.
There are also more options, like for autojump. Check them out and see what they are doing for you.
If you get stuck in quicksand, press P to enable Pitch, look down and press-hold S to get out.
Some keys do not work for you, if you do not have the appropriate privilege. These are noclip, fast and fly.
Some features require you to have certain items in your inventory, such as zoom or minimap.
